Calgary Indoor Beach Volleyball
Rules, rules, rules. Play fair, have fun, make friends, stay friends.
TBYYC Rules
Our Mission says it all: Provide a fun and safe place for all Calgarians to be active. Be respectful to each other, play safe, and have fun! And invite someone new onto your team!
General league rules are also listed on the “Determining Your Level of Play” tab on the Volleyball home page.
Each league will be made up of 10 teams (assuming we fill up!). You will play two 45 minute best 2-of-3 matches against two other teams each night. This means you play one team, best 2-of-3, and then you play another. Each night will be 1.5 hours, made up of those two 45 minutes matches.
Keep off the net.
The line is in.
Double touches are out.
But most importantly, have fun.
The Beach YYC official league rules will be sent to team captains before league games start, and can be found on our Volleyball page: TBYYC Volleyball rules

Try to stay off the net, but if it doesn’t affect play, feel free to play on.
Rock paper scissors to determine who serves first, and alternate for games 2 and 3.
Minimum of 2 people each women and men. If you don’t have 2, play one person short. Minimum required is five people to play, if you have less that counts as a forfeit. Teams have 10 minutes from the scheduled start time to find a sub before a forfeit is declared.
As our coach said in grade 11, getting three hits per side is best.
Try to stay off the net, but if no one sees it and it didn’t affect the game, play on. If it did affect the play it is a lost point for the team that caused the infraction.
